The machine is quite big so using the shoulder strap is a must. It is more suited to picking up small piles of leaves on stones than suited to sucking up large piles of leaves. You're often better off raking or blowing large areas into piles then using grabbers to put into tonnes sacks. Be careful when using on wet soil for instance as the soil can quickly clog the internal channels and can be quite difficult to remove if the soil is particularly clayey. It is quite adept at picking up small piles of leaves over a large area, for example a car park, where the leaves have already been blown into piles by the wind.

Works well especially on dry leaves, not so good if leaves are wet, which is to be expected. Only critique is the shoulder strap has to be put across your body, if you try to put it just on your shoulder it slips off as you work.
