Looks and feels like a well made machine only fault is its a bit heavy.
Compared to the hla 85 (the prior model to this one) the adjustment of reach of the machine is much easier due to the twistable locking mechanism , compared to the small and intricate level mechanism of the last model.
The head degree adjustment is quick and effortless. Make sure you keep the mechanism well lubricated to ensure longevity and smooth operation, and avoid placing too much pressure (glide and let the cutting bar do the work) on the head as the adjustment holes are only a soft aluminium. It is very much a trimmer rather than a cutter.
The weight of the machine for a professional user is ideal. I do however, recommend a harness though because anything above hip height will give you niggling shoulder pain after some years of use, especially if using for hours day in day out. The new x-flex hla harness is designed for transferring the weight to the body. Try not to reach too far out also because debilitating back pain will be the result.
The battery power lasts a significant amount of time with the 500s batteries. 2 will get you through an entire day as you are not always on the trigger.
I've used this machine in all conditions, peeing down with rain, even -10 and it has never let me down.
One annoyance is the safety switch mechanism, but over time ones muscle memory gets used to activating it upon each trigger press. If you're feeling brave you can also **** the safety switch mechanism into the housing or just tape it in place, although you might get it accidentally going off in the back of the van or resting up against something.
This is a capable professional machine that will last for years because of its quality components. Keep the blades sharp with a diamond sharper, or just replace the blades since they are cheap enough (around 100-150) and are quite easy to replace.
