Effortlessly prune through your garden with the STIHL ASA 20 Cordless Secateurs.
Part of the AS System, these battery-powered secateurs can cut through green material up to 25mm in diameter. Set the blades to different openings for faster cutting and maximum control. Plus, a quick guide for changing the blade is conveniently printed above the battery bay.
With a blade guard for safe storage and an integrated maintenance tool for easy adjustments, these secateurs can make up to 2000 cuts on a single charge. Its clear LED display also keeps you informed of battery life and cutting settings.
Features:
- CONTROLLED AND PRECISE: For maximum cutting control and very precise cuts, the movement of the blade follows the movement of the finger on the control lever during cutting. The blade only closes as long as the control lever is pressed and opens again immediately when the lever is released.
- FLEXIBLE ADJUSTMENT OF BLADE OPENING TO SUIT THICK AND THIN BRANCHES: For a blade opening appropriate to the thickness of the branches you are working with, you can choose between 2 opening widths. After initially switching on, the blade opening is always set to the larger width. The smaller opening width can be selected when you are pruning thinner branches. The benefit: the blade does not need to be fully opened. This increases cutting speed and work progress. The set blade opening width is shown on the display.
- PRACTICAL AND ALWAYS AT HAND: A compact maintenance tool is stored in the battery compartment, so you can easily adjust the blade clearance, lubricate the blades and open the service flap for blade replacement. Which means you always have the perfect tool at hand when you need it.
- IMPORTANT TOOL DATA AT A GLANCE: Useful information is displayed on the easy-to-read OLED display. This includes the charge level of the installed battery, the selected blade opening width and the total number of cuts.

- Weight - 0.76 kg

It's brilliant bit of kit
My garden is large and full of mature shrubs and trees. I’m getting old and arthritis is setting in. Manual secateurs and loppers are now hard work, time consuming and next day my hand and wrist joints are painful.
I’m female, my hand is a UK size 9 and I find the ASA 20 well balanced, lightweight, with a comfortable grip even wearing bulky gauntlets. It handles equally well left or right-handed.
The trigger mechanism is very easy to use, much easier than a squeeze grip.
Being brand new the blades are very sharp and give a clean cut with no torn bark. I’ve been cutting through branches of mature Elm, Hawthorn, Apple, and Rhododendron easily.
Cutting is extremely quick so keep your fingers well clear. Make sure you put these secateurs down when you’re not using them as even a light tightening of your grip triggers them. Basically treat them as you would a chainsaw, with extreme caution and your full attention.
I didn’t think I would use the two blade settings but I actually found the narrower setting perfect for pruning woody branches of Weigela, Forsythia, Roses and Buddleia quickly
The time delay on the automatic shut off is approximately 2 minutes, giving you plenty of time to pick your next branch without needing to power back up.
The method for powering on/off and setting blade position takes a little getting used to but it does make you focus on what you’re doing.
You can switch off with the blades in the open position and remove the battery. The blades will remain in the open position allowing you to wipe them clean without fear of chopping off a finger.
The blade cover is hard plastic and fits over all blade positions so there is no need to reset the blade position if you want to fit it between cuts. It’s a push fit that stays in place even when held vertically. I found it very easy to pull back off whilst wearing thorn proof gauntlets.
The battery compartment has lugs that prevent incorrect battery installation.
Battery life is excellent. The display has a blade cut count, it’s a maintenance reminder but it also shows you just how many cuts you’ve made. After half a morning’s work I found I’d made over 1000 cuts without changing the battery. I had zero pain in my hands and only stopped because my knees were complaining from all the hauling about of branches I’d done.
Next day I had no joint pain in my hands and wrists. The only thing that stopped me getting back out there was the torrential rain. Being battery powered the ASA 20 isn’t waterproof, there is a clear warning about this in the manual.
I’m now finding myself looking forward to the annual pruning
Came on time have used it every day brilliant
This little tool is a class act.
