Typhoo was launched in 1903 in Birmingham by a grocer who wanted a new tea to sell in his shop. The name comes from the Chinese word for “doctor” and the tea was intended to reflect the calming effects of tea fannings. Typhoo has used many recognisable marketing slogans over the years and is still a popular tea brand today.
