Details:

  • Botanical Name: Various premium culinary species, pre-sorted into six separately packed varieties for precise pot and container management.
  • Plant Class: Mixed Collection, containing a highly versatile balance of annuals and perennials that provide a continuous succession of fresh leaves from spring through to autumn.
  • Basil Cinnamon (100 Seeds): Grows to a compact height of 45cm, producing distinctive glossy leaves with a sweet, exotic cinnamon flavour that adds a warm depth to Asian dishes and fresh fruit salads.
  • Coriander Delfino (75 Seeds): Reaches a mature height of 60cm, featuring highly aromatic, unusually fine fern-like leaves that offer excellent bolt resistance and a punchy, distinctive citrus aroma for summer curries.
  • Parsley Frisé vert foncé (750 Seeds): Forms a neat, tight mound reaching a height of 30cm, bearing beautifully crinkled, mild-tasting dark green leaves that serve as a classic garnish and flavour base for traditional British sauces.
  • Chives Biggy (250 Seeds): Produces robust, large hollow leaves growing up to 30cm, delivering a crisp texture and a mild onion flavour that is perfect for snipping fresh into morning omelettes, potato salads, and warming winter soups.
  • Mint Peppermint (500 Seeds): Grows into a strong, multi-branched framework reaching 60cm, yielding strongly aromatic leaves that are indispensable for brewing refreshing herbal teas, blending into summer drinks, or making traditional mint sauce.
  • Summer Savoury (300 Seeds): A charming, fast-growing herb that reaches a mature height of 30cm, traditionally used as a delicate, peppery seasoning to elevate the natural flavour of home-cooked broad beans and light summer stews.
  • Space-Saving Container Habit: Specifically selected for their non-invasive growing habits, making this collection a great choice if you are looking to maximise food production on a small balcony, terrace, or kitchen windowsill.

Care Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: Choose a warm, sheltered location in full sun or light partial shade, utilising deep, well-drained terracotta pots, trough planters, or window boxes filled with a high-quality loam-based seed compost.
  • Sowing Method: Follow the individual packet guidelines for each variety, sowing seeds thinly directly onto the damp compost surface, covering lightly with a fine layer of sifted compost or vermiculite, and firming down gently.
  • Moisture and Thinning: Water the containers regularly with a fine-rose watering can to keep the compost consistently moist but never waterlogged, thinning out young seedlings gradually to allow proper air circulation and root development.
  • Harvesting and Preservation: Snip the outer leaves regularly, a few at a time to encourage continuous, bushy regrowth throughout the season, and freeze any surplus harvest in ice cube trays with a little water to preserve their fresh oils for winter use.
