An award-winning hardy annual engineered to deliver sweet, feathery culinary herbs with an extended harvesting season.

Introduce a unique and decorative twist to your kitchen herb garden with this premium coriander selection, produced by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds in proud partnership with the Royal Horticultural Society. Honoured with the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit for its absolute reliability and outstanding growth performance, Confetti breaks away from traditional flat-leaved types to offer a delicate, finely divided foliage. It stands as the definitive choice for home cooks seeking a steady supply of aromatic, low-maintenance herbs that can be cultivated both outdoors in the garden plot and indoors on a sunny windowsill.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Coriandrum sativum 'Confetti', a highly uniform and distinct premium cultivar within the aromatic Apiaceae family.
  • Plant Class: Hardy Annual, establishing with exceptional seedling vigour to rapidly produce a dense, lush mound of fine culinary foliage from a spring sowing.
  • Attractive Feathery Leaves: Features unusual, deeply divided, serrated leaves that resemble fine carrot top foliage, adding a beautiful fern-like texture to your herb borders or patio containers.
  • Refined Sweet Flavour: Packed with a slightly sweeter, milder, but still characteristically punchy and distinctive coriander aroma, making it a great choice if you find traditional coriander slightly too overpowering.
  • Indoor Year-Round Cultivation: Highly adaptable and versatile, this resilient variety can be grown successfully indoors on a warm kitchen windowsill at any time of the year, ensuring a constant winter supply of fresh garnishes.
  • Slow-To-Bolt Genetics: Due to its unique fine-leaf structure, this variety shows better tolerance against hot summer weather than standard broad-leaved coriander, remaining in leaf for longer before running to seed.
  • Gourmet Culinary Utility: Serves as an excellent, texture-rich fresh ingredient for scattering over aromatic summer curries, folding into fresh tomato salsas, or stirring into cooling yogurt dips.

Care Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: For a continuous outdoor supply, sow small successional batches every 2 to 3 weeks from March through to July. Choose a position with rich, well-drained soil in full sun or light partial shade.
  • Direct Sowing Method: Sow seeds thinly directly into finely raked, weed-free ground 1cm deep, in rows spaced 30cm apart. Alternatively, sow directly into deep terracotta pots filled with good quality multi-purpose compost to avoid root disturbance.
  • Moisture and Thinning: Keep the soil or container compost consistently and evenly moist, as dry soil triggers the plants to bolt prematurely. Thin out the developing seedlings gradually to space the remaining plants 20cm apart, using the aromatic trimmings fresh in the kitchen.
  • Harvesting Technique: Pick the outer leaves regularly a few at a time, once the plants reach roughly 10-15cm tall, leaving the central growing point intact to encourage continuous, multi-season leaf production.
