- Wildlife Ecosystem Support: Specially compiled to serve as a high-value nectar and pollen source, significantly boosting the ecological health of your kitchen garden or allotment.
Care Instructions:
- Sowing Position: Choose a weed-free, well-drained area in full sun or partial shade, raking the soil to a fine, crumbly tilth before sowing. For the most natural look, sow the individual packs separately in distinct drifts or combine them across a larger dedicated wildlife patch.
- Sowing Method: Broadcast the seeds thinly directly onto the prepared soil surface from March to May for summer development, or sow in September to allow the seeds to over-winter naturally, which promotes early germination the following spring. Cover very lightly with a fine layer of sifted soil or raked earth.
- Moisture & Establishment: Water the seedbed gently but thoroughly using a fine-rose watering can, keeping the area consistently moist until the young seedlings are well established. Once fully rooted, these native varieties are remarkably self-sufficient and require very little supplemental watering.
- End-of-Season Maintenance: Allow the flower heads to fade and dry completely on the stem in late summer, which permits the plants to drop their seeds naturally for subsequent years. Cut the entire area back to ground level in autumn using shears, clearing away the dead material to allow light to reach the soil for the next season.
