Harvest crisp, long daikon roots bursting with a mild, refreshing bite and a satisfying crunch.

A premium, fast-maturing Asian mooli radish variety belonging to the prolific Raphanus sativus family. Celebrated for its remarkable uniformity and excellent heat tolerance, Mino Early produces long, ice-white roots that deliver a clean, mild flavor, making it a highly versatile asset for both crisp summer salads and sizzling hot stir-fries.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Raphanus sativus, a superior, quick-growing long-rooted daikon radish.
  • Long, Ice-White Roots: Generates beautiful, smoothly tapered, and substantial white roots that maintain a flawlessly crisp, firm, and juicy texture.
  • Mild & Refreshing Flavour: Lacks the harsh, overly pungent sting of some traditional small radishes, offering instead a clean, subtly sweet, and family-friendly mild bite.
  • Gourmet Kitchen Versatility: Grate it raw into vibrant salads or slice it thinly and sprinkle with sea salt for a traditional crisp appetizer. Alternatively, toss it into a high-heat stir-fry with fresh ginger and sugar snap peas where it holds its crunch beautifully.
  • Fast-Maturing & Reliable: Specifically selected for its "early" growth habit, allowing it to develop plump, usable roots rapidly after sowing, bypassing the woody textures of slower varieties.
  • Nutrient-Dense Crop: A rewarding, low-calorie homegrown vegetable that provides an excellent, fresh-picked source of dietary fiber and health-boosting vitamin C.

Care Instructions:

  • Sow seeds directly outdoors from early summer to early autumn in finely prepared, stone-free soil in flat drills 1.5cm deep, keeping rows roughly 30cm apart. Avoid spring sowing, as early heat can cause long radishes to bolt.
  • Thin the young seedlings out early to a spacing of 10–15cm, ensuring the long, underground mooli roots have plenty of structural room to expand without restriction.
  • Water the rows regularly and deeply to keep the soil consistently damp; uniform moisture is key to preventing the roots from turning woody, bitter, or splitting prematurely.
