Weave a rich, delicately fragrant carpet of intricate bicolour and picotee blooms across your summer garden.
An exclusive and highly acclaimed half-hardy annual variety belonging to the beautiful Phlox drummondii family. Reaching a well-branched height of 45cm, this unique introduction produces a spectacular, limitless combination of patterned flower heads, making it a sophisticated, fragrant choice for sunny borders, patio tubs, and fresh-cut indoor bouquets.
Details:
- Botanical Name: Phlox drummondii, a fast-growing, free-flowering annual phlox native to Texas.
- Exquisite Tapestry Mixture: Features a stunningly intricate blend of jewel-like tones, presenting an endless variety of striking bicolours, soft eyes, and finely edged picotee effects.
- Delicately Fragrant: Infuses the warm summer air with a sweet, subtle, and enchanting perfume that is perfect for planting near seating areas or windowsills.
- Versatile 45cm Profile: Grows with a neat, medium-tall, and bushy habit to a height of 45cm (18in), providing an ideal mid-border filler that blends seamlessly with cottage garden plants.
- The Ultimate Cutting Flower: The sturdy stems and tightly clustered flower heads hold their form exceptionally well in water, bringing scent and vintage charm to home-grown vase arrangements.
- Sun-Loving Performance: Thrives at its absolute best when positioned in full sun, maintaining a highly productive, vibrant canopy of fresh blooms from early summer through to the first autumn frosts.
Care Instructions:
- Sow seeds indoors from late winter to mid-spring in trays of moist, free-draining seed compost, covering the seeds with a very fine 3mm layer of compost or vermiculite as they prefer darkness to germinate.
- Maintain a steady temperature of 15–20°C. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into individual pots or cell trays and grow on in cooler, frost-free conditions.
- Gradually acclimatise the young plants to outdoor conditions before transplanting them into their final position in well-drained soil and full sun after all danger of spring frost has safely passed.
