Harvest heavy yields of beautifully uniform, slender roots packed with classic homegrown sweetness.
A premium British-bred F1 hybrid variety belonging to the traditional Pastinaca family, specifically engineered to thrive in UK growing conditions. Producing sleek, long roots with excellent canker resistance, this highly reliable parsnip stands perfectly in frozen ground over winter, making it an essential, nutrient-rich choice for comforting cold-weather cooking.
Details:
- Botanical Name: Pastinaca sativa, a superior and highly productive British-bred hybrid parsnip.
- Long Slender Roots: Developed to produce highly uniform, beautifully tapered, and slender roots wrapped in an attractive, clean cream skin.
- Fantastic Roasted Flavour: Features a rich, sweet flavor and a fine texture that caramelizes beautifully when roasted, fried, or dropped whole into slow-cooked winter stews.
- Advanced Canker Resistance: Offers superb natural tolerance to parsnip canker, keeping the smooth skin healthy, clean, and unblemished in the soil.
- Exceptional Winter Hardiness: Fully winter-hardy; stands comfortably in freezing ground through the winter months, allowing you to pull them fresh as needed.
- Nutrient-Rich Allotment Crop: A highly productive and rewarding vegetable garden choice that provides an excellent homegrown source of vitamin C and folate.
Care Instructions:
- Sow seeds directly outdoors from late winter through to late spring in shallow drills 1.5cm deep, using deeply dug, stone-free soil to encourage straight root development.
- Space rows roughly 30cm apart, keeping the seedbed consistently moist while waiting for germination, which can naturally take a few weeks.
- Thin out the emerging seedlings to a final spacing of 10cm to 15cm apart, and leave the mature roots in the ground until after the first autumn frosts to maximize their natural sugars.
