Introduce children to the magic of gardening with fun, quick-growing round carrots.

A wonderful entry from the popular Little Gardeners collection, specially designed to make growing vegetables a fun, creative, and highly rewarding experience for kids. Containing the reliable 'Paris Market 5' seed strain, it produces remarkable, bite-sized round roots that look just like mini basketballs!

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Daucus carota, a clever, shallow-rooting variety that is incredibly quick and easy to grow from seed.
  • Plant Class: Annual Root Vegetable, perfect for keeping young minds engaged with fast results and a straightforward growing journey.
  • Playful Shape: Instead of long, traditional roots, this variety yields charming, globe-shaped orange carrots that are fun to pull from the ground and instantly appealing to children.
  • Texture & Taste: Packed with a delicious, juicy crunch and a naturally sweet flavour that makes them a highly nutritious treat, whether eaten raw straight from the wash tap or cooked for dinner.
  • Harvest Window: Provides a steady, staggered supply of fun, round roots from June all the way through to October.
  • Space & Soil Versatility: Because the roots are short and round, they don't require deep garden soil; they grow absolutely perfectly in shallow patio containers, troughs, window boxes, or small garden patches.
  • Growth Footprint: Extremely neat and compact, forming a dainty top-growth canopy that spreads to just 20cm (8in).

Care & Growing Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: Sow thinly directly into loose, well-drained soil or a patio container filled with standard multi-purpose compost. Position in a bright, sunny spot. Because the roots are round, they are highly forgiving and can even grow successfully in heavy or stony soils where long carrots usually struggle.
  • Maintenance: Keep the soil or compost consistently moist to ensure steady, sweet growth. Thin out the seedlings slightly if they are crowded to give the round "basketball" roots plenty of room to expand.
