Harvest heavy, high-quality yields from a premium, British-bred maincrop.

An exceptional F1 hybrid variety specially developed in Britain to deliver outstanding vigor, a neat upright habit, and superb resistance to bolting. Producing thick, smooth white shanks with commercial-grade quality, it provides a reliable, highly nutritious harvest throughout the winter months.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Allium porrum, a modern, high-performance hybrid tailored specifically for British growing conditions.
  • Plant Class: Hardy Vegetable, displaying superb cold tolerance to stand reliably in frozen winter ground for fresh harvesting.
  • F1 Hybrid Vigour: Offers superior growth speed, high uniformity, and a robust constitution compared to traditional open-pollinated varieties.
  • Growth Habit: Features a tidy, strictly upright habit with clean, erect blue-green leaves, keeping the foliage off the muddy ground and saving valuable space in tight plots.
  • Shank Quality: Yields heavy crops of perfectly smooth, uniform white shanks that are remarkably easy to harvest, peel, and clean in the kitchen.
  • Bolt Resistance: Carefully bred to be highly stable and slow to bolt, giving you a much wider and more forgiving harvesting window.
  • Nutritional Value: Serves as a fantastic, health-boosting winter food source packed with natural Vitamin C, essential iron, and folate.

Care & Growing Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: Sow in modules or seedbeds during mid-to-late spring. Once the seedlings reach pencil thickness, transplant them into deep, fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny spot.
  • Planting Technique: Use a dibber to create holes 15cm (6in) deep, drop a single seedling into each, and fill the hole with water rather than soil to allow the smooth shanks to expand perfectly. Earth up the stems slightly in late summer to maximize the length of the white, blanched shanks.
