A high-performance all-female hybrid producing prolific crops of crisp, bitter-free mini cucumbers.
Enjoy an abundant, continuous supply of premium snack-sized cucumbers with this outstanding F1 hybrid. Specially bred as an "all-female" flowering variety, Passandra F1 directs all its energy into producing uniform, seedless mini cucumbers. Backed by an exceptional multi-disease resistance package, it ensures a highly reliable and prolonged greenhouse harvest.
Details:
- Botanical Name: Cucumis sativus 'Passandra F1', an elite, high-yielding hybrid selection within the Cucumber genus.
- Plant Class: Half Hardy Annual, establishing with superb speed and stamina to deliver early, consistent kitchen-ready harvests under glass.
- All-Female Flowering Habit: Primarily produces fruit-bearing female flowers, ensuring an incredibly high yield. Because there is no pollination from male flowers, the resulting mini cucumbers remain completely seedless and entirely bitter-free.
- Crisp Mini Snack Cues: Bears beautifully uniform, straight, dark green fruits that are best harvested at a convenient snack size of 15–17cm (6–7in) long. The skin is smooth and tender, requiring no peeling before eating.
- Outstanding Disease Tolerance: Armed with built-in genetic protection against Powdery Mildew, Downy Mildew, and Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV). This heavy-duty defense system keeps the vine robust, green, and productive deep into autumn.
- Vigorous Vertical Growth: Naturally develops a strong, upright climbing framework that loves to scale supports. Training it up strings, netting, or a sturdy greenhouse trellis saves valuable ground space and keeps the hanging fruits pristine and clean.
- The Ultimate Lunchbox Snack: Highly prized for its exceptionally crisp texture and refreshing, mild flavor. It is the perfect variety for popping whole into children's lunchboxes, slicing into fresh summer salads, or serving with dips.
Care Instructions:
- Sowing Position: Start seeds early indoors from March to May by sowing individual seeds on their edges 1.5cm deep in small pots of moist compost. Maintain a warm, consistent temperature during germination to protect the tender roots. Position in full sun.
- Training & Support: Plant out into greenhouse borders, large patio tubs, or growing bags once spring conditions have fully warmed. Provide a strong vertical support frame and loosely secure the main stem. Pinch out the growing tips of side shoots after two leaves to focus energy on primary fruit development.
- Moisture & Nutrition: Cucumbers are exceptionally thirsty and hungry plants. Water deeply and regularly around the base, keeping the soil or compost consistently moist but never waterlogged. Feed with a high-potash liquid tomato fertilizer every two weeks once the first fruits begin to develop.
- Harvesting Tip: Use a sharp knife or garden snips to harvest the cucumbers cleanly when they reach their ideal mini length of 15–17cm. Frequent, consistent picking stimulates the plant to continuously push out a non-stop supply of new fruits until autumn.
