A first-rate all-female greenhouse variety delivering high yields of long, slender, premium cucumbers.

Experience exceptional productivity and disease resilience under glass with this top-tier F1 hybrid. Specially bred as an "all-female" flowering variety, Louisa F1 directs its energy into producing high-quality, seedless fruits without the risk of bitterness. Backed by excellent resistance to powdery mildew and target leaf spot, it keeps the vine thriving and productive for a long summer harvest.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Cucumis sativus 'Louisa F1', an elite, high-performance hybrid selection within the Cucumber genus.
  • Plant Class: Half Hardy Annual, establishing with immense vigor to deliver a prolonged, high-volume harvest from early summer to autumn.
  • All-Female Flowering Habit: Primarily produces fruit-bearing female flowers, ensuring an incredibly high yield of uniform cucumbers. Because there is no pollination from male flowers, the resulting fruits remain seedless and completely bitter-free.
  • Long & Slender Quality Fruits: Bears beautifully straight, dark green cucumbers with a crisp texture, thin skin, and an incredibly refreshing, mild flavor that is perfect for summer dining.
  • Advanced Disease Resistance: Features strong genetic protection against Powdery Mildew and Target Leaf Spot (Corynespora), preventing premature vine decline and keeping the canopy healthy and productive deep into the season.
  • Vigorous Vertical Growth: Naturally develops a strong climbing vining framework that loves to scale vertical supports. Training it up strings, netting, or a sturdy trellis keeps the hanging cucumbers clean, straight, and effortlessly easy to pick.
  • Optimal Growing Environment: Specifically tailored to perform at its absolute best under the protection of a glass greenhouse, large polytunnel, or a warm, sun-drenched, highly sheltered patio area.

Care Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: Start seeds early indoors from March to May by sowing individual seeds on their edges 1.5cm deep in small pots of moist compost. Maintain a warm, consistent temperature during germination to protect the tender roots. Position in full sun.
  • Training & Support: Plant out into greenhouse borders, large patio tubs, or growing bags once the spring weather has fully warmed. Provide a strong vertical support frame and loosely secure the main stem. Pinch out the growing tips of side shoots after two leaves to encourage primary fruit development.
  • Moisture & Nutrition: Cucumbers are exceptionally thirsty and hungry plants. Water deeply and regularly around the base, keeping the soil or compost consistently moist but never waterlogged. Feed with a high-potash liquid tomato fertilizer every two weeks once the first fruits begin to develop.
  • Harvesting Tip: Use a sharp knife or garden snips to harvest the cucumbers cleanly when they are firm, heavy, and have reached their full, slender length. Frequent, consistent picking stimulates the plant to continuously push out a non-stop supply of new fruits.
