A highly reliable, fast-maturing kitchen garden staple producing heavy crops of dark green fruits.
Enjoy a continuous, bountiful harvest all summer long with this exceptionally dependable bush variety. Renowned for its rapid maturity and high productivity, All Green Bush delivers an abundant supply of premium, dark green courgettes that can be snipped early as tender baby veg or left to swell into delicious, full-sized marrows.
Details:
- Botanical Name: Cucurbita pepo, a time-tested, premium selection within the heavy-yielding Courgette genus.
- Plant Class: Half Hardy Annual, establishing with great speed in the spring to deliver high-volume, kitchen-ready harvests across the summer months.
- High-Yielding Bush Habit: Naturally forms a neat, non-trailing, compact bush framework. This space-saving habit makes it highly versatile, allowing it to thrive equally well in traditional vegetable plots, raised beds, or large patio containers.
- Dual-Harvest Versatility: Offers excellent culinary flexibility; cut the straight, smooth, dark green fruits at 10–15cm (4–6in) long for crisp, succulent baby courgettes, or allow a few to mature fully into large, tender-fleshed marrows.
- Edible Golden Blossoms: Produces large, vibrant yellow flowers that can be harvested early in the morning, stuffed with ricotta, and lightly fried as a gourmet Mediterranean delicacy.
- Relentless Summer Cropping: Bred to be highly productive, this established variety will continuously pump out fresh flowers and fruits from mid-summer right up until the first autumn frosts.
- Kitchen Value: A massively versatile vegetable, packed with nutrients and perfect for slicing into stir-fries, roasting with summer vegetables, grilling on the barbecue, or baking into moist cakes.
Care Instructions:
- Sowing Position: Start seeds indoors from April to May by sowing individual seeds on their edges 2cm deep in pots of moist compost. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors in late May or June into rich, warm soil once all danger of frost has fully passed. Position in full sun.
- Moisture & Nutrition: Courgettes are incredibly hungry and thirsty plants. Plant them out into soil enriched with plenty of well-rotted manure, and water them deeply and regularly, especially during dry spells and as the fruits begin to swell.
- Harvesting Tip: Use a sharp knife to harvest the courgettes regularly. Frequent picking is vital, as it stimulates the plant, preventing it from slowing down and ensuring a non-stop supply of new fruits.
