Introduce outstanding reliability and gourmet quality to your vegetable plot with this premium cauliflower selection. Designed for exceptional performance in modern gardens, Candid Charm F1 produces dense, heavy heads with a sweet, refined flavour that far surpasses standard allotment varieties. It stands as the definitive choice for home growers looking to maximize space while securing a steady supply of fresh, nutritious produce from mid-summer through to autumn.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Brassica oleracea var. botrytis 'Candid Charm F1', a premium, highly uniform hybrid cultivar within the Brassica family.
  • Plant Class: Hardy Annual, possessing superior hybrid vigour that ensures rapid, uniform growth and excellent early seedling establishment.
  • Tightly Packed White Curds: Yields beautiful, solid dome heads featuring a pristine white colouration that remains well-protected by dense outer wrapper leaves.
  • Ideal for Close Spacing: Specifically bred to tolerate dense planting, making it a versatile selection for compact kitchen gardens, raised allotment beds, or intensive vegetable plots.
  • Flexible Mini Harvesting: A great choice if you are short on space, as the crop can be harvested early when it reaches a convenient tennis ball size to provide tender, sweet gourmet mini cauliflowers.
  • Extended Harvesting Window: Provides a highly reliable, staggered supply of fresh, homegrown meals across the productive summer and autumn months of July, August, and September.
  • Nutritional Benefits: A highly rewarding, health-boosting crop for home growers, serving as an excellent source of plant-based dietary fibre, Vitamin C, and essential antioxidants.

Care Instructions:

  • Sowing Position: For a consistent summer harvest, sow seeds thinly indoors in module trays from March to April, or sow directly outdoors into a finely raked, weed-free seedbed from April to June. Sow seeds at a depth of 1.5cm in a position with full sun.
  • Planting Out and Spacing: Transplant young seedlings to their final outdoor plot from May to July once they have developed 4 to 5 true leaves. Space individual plants 60cm apart for full-sized maincrop heads, or reduce to 30cm apart if you prefer to harvest tender mini cauliflowers.
  • Moisture and Soil Maintenance: Thoroughly firm the earth around the base of each stem after transplanting, as cauliflowers thrive best in firm, rich, and well-drained soil. Keep the bed consistently moist during dry spells, as any check in watering can cause the heads to form prematurely.
  • Blanching Technique: To preserve the brilliant white colour of the developing curds and protect them from scorching summer sun, fold the large inner leaves loosely over the head as it begins to swell. Harvest the cauliflowers cleanly while the buds remain tight and firm.
