A high-quality cylindrical variety for effortless slicing and preparation.

Experience the convenience of this premium monogerm beetroot, specifically bred to offer uniform, ringless roots and a simplified growing process.

Details:

  • Botanical Name: Beta vulgaris, a refined variety selected for its superior kitchen and garden qualities.
  • Cylindrical Shape: Produces long, uniform roots that provide consistent, even slices, making it far more practical for the cook than traditional globe varieties.
  • Monogerm Benefit: Unlike standard "multigerm" clusters, this variety produces only one or two seedlings per seed, significantly reducing the labour-intensive task of thinning.
  • Exceptional Texture: Features a smooth, deep red internal flesh with very few internal rings, ensuring a high-quality finish for pickling or salads.
  • Culinary Versatility: The sweet flavour and tender texture make it a versatile choice for roasting, boiling, or grating raw.
  • Efficient Growth: The upright habit and cylindrical root allow for more efficient use of space in garden borders or raised beds.

Care Instructions:

  • Sowing: Sow seeds thinly outdoors from March to July in well-cultivated, stone-free soil. Sow at a depth of 1cm in drills spaced 30cm apart.
  • Spacing: Due to the monogerm nature, sow precisely to avoid overcrowding. Aim for a final spacing of 10cm between plants.
  • Watering: Maintain consistent moisture levels, especially during dry spells, to prevent the roots from becoming woody or tough.
  • Soil Preference: Thrives in a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil. Light soil is particularly beneficial for long, cylindrical varieties to reach their full potential.
  • Harvesting: Pull roots as required from June to October. Handle carefully to avoid bruising the skin, which can cause the juice to "bleed" during cooking.
