A vibrant blend of four varieties for a colourful harvest.
Bring variety to your kitchen garden with this expert mixture of beetroots, offering a range of diverse colours and shapes from a single sowing.
Details:
- Botanical Name: Beta vulgaris, a curated selection of high-performing beetroot varieties.
- Colourful Selection: A blended mixture featuring four different varieties, including traditional deep red, golden-yellow, candy-striped, and white roots.
- Culinary Versatility: Perfect for adding a "designer" look to fresh summer salads when sliced raw or for creating a striking side dish of multicoloured roasted vegetables.
- Exceptional Flavour: Each variety in the mix has been chosen for its reliable growth and sweet, earthy flavour profile.
- Multigerm Variety: Each seed cluster produces several seedlings, ensuring a dense and productive crop in your vegetable plot.
- Dual Purpose: While primarily grown for the roots, the young, tender leaves of these different varieties also provide a colourful and nutritious addition to mixed salads.
Care Instructions:
- Sowing: Sow seeds thinly outdoors from March to July in well-prepared, stone-free soil. Sow at a depth of 1cm in drills spaced 30cm apart.
- Thinning: Once seedlings appear, thin them to 10cm apart to allow the roots sufficient room to expand; the thinned seedlings are delicious in salads.
- Watering: Maintain consistent moisture levels, especially during dry spells, to prevent the roots from becoming woody or tough.
- Soil Preference: Thrives in a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil. Avoid freshly manured ground to ensure smooth, uniform root development.
- Harvesting: Pull individual roots as required from June to October. For the best flavour and most vibrant colours, harvest when roots are between golf and tennis ball size.
