PG Tips was launched in the UK in the 1930s and is now one of the most popular tea brands in the country. The brand began as Pre-Gest-Tee, but by the early 1950s, the name PG was adopted due to labelling regulations ruling out describing tea as a digestion aid. The ‘Tips’ was added because only the tips of the tea plants are used in the blend.
