I was able to wear these Merrell Moab shoes straight out of the box. That is not always the case. The cushioning is on the plush side and very comfortable, but the shoes have enough structure for the feet to maintain a stable position. The soles may not be the most long lasting produced by Vibram. I suspect that this particular sole is designed with safety in mind rather than durability. Walking with wet leaves underfoot is no problem and suggests good adhesion. I have not yet been able to test them in the rain but initial impressions suggest the shoes are well made. A very good trail, hiking and general purpose walking shoe. Sam Turner and Sons did a great job dealing with my order. Delivery was extremely quick. Given the price, I would say these shoes are an exceptional purchase.
