Barbour Icons Beaufort Waxed Jacket
In 1982, following John Barbour's untimely death, Dame Margaret continued his country clothing legacy & designed the iconic Beaufort wax jacket
The Barbour Beaufort Waxed Jacket was inspired by Dame Margaret's visits to France and the name highlighted the continental character of the piece. Designed originally as a shooting jacket, it has a distinctive full-width rear game pocket. In 2007, the Beaufort received high profile attention in the film 'The Queen' where actress Helen Mirren who portrayed the Queen wore a Beaufort. This led to a doubling of sales of the jacket in New York where customers were clamouring for the jacket worn by 'The Queen'.
